Delighted to introduce the new chapter of my newsletter: In addition to the regular edit crafted by yours truly, THE GOOD MOOD BOARD is evolving with an exciting takeover series. You can look forward to monthly editions featuring wonderful guest contributors, starting with Carola!
Lots of Love,
Franzi xx
My name is Carola Pojer. I’m a content creator, artist, and co-founder of House of Auster – Vienna’s first shoppable apartment. I studied acting and photography, hence I’m very interested in creative processes, the development of emotions, and aesthetics through (moving) images. Two years ago I launched my ceramic label, One Of A Kind, which brings me a lot of joy.
Sitting on the pottery wheel, creating something with my own hands while listening to a nice podcast or music, always puts me in a good mood.
THE GOOD ART
Anna Zimmermann is not only the most beautiful human (inside and out) but also an utterly inspiring artist. Her mainly female-themed paintings touch me in a way I can’t describe. Her way of using colour, shapes, and texture speaks to me in a wonderful language and always brings me joy. Some of her artworks were painted outside a hidden studio in Arta, Mallorca. Allowing nature to paint itself, the canvases were hung outside to dry, swaying freely in the wind and adding a wild element to the composition. I love this, I won’t lie.
THE GOOD COMEBACK
Ok well, I assume most of us “Philophiles” were too late to snatch one of Phoebe Philo’s pieces from her anticipated debut collection (the former creative director of Céline, created an enormous fan base). Yes, the prices range from unaffordable to utopian. However, what Phoebe gave us is a new perspective on aging, on female views, and on how women like to dress between business and raising kids. Her portfolio is filled with wonderful imagery that makes my heart skip a beat. She has touched something inside me, ever since Old Céline. I don’t know what it is, but I want more of it...
THE GOOD READ
I came across the Magazine “It’s A Passion Thing” last year when I met its two female founders and editors. I love their new approach to print; the stories are super interesting and the creative direction is just very forward-thinking. I’m also very honored that I got to contribute to their latest copy with House of Auster. While it’s produced in Austria, copies are fortunately available all over Europe – this mag is worth a read. Print is not dead, you guys!
THE GOOD TUNE
BLONDE by Frank Ocean is my go-to album whenever I’m at the ceramic studio, crafting things for my label One of A Kind. I started to listen to it in my early days as a ceramist, shed lots of tears of frustration (because the clay did not want to move the way I wanted), but also spent so many good hours while “Nights” or “Pink + White” were on repeat - and I created my beloved Fru cups while listening to it.
THE GOOD BITE
I have been following Paris Starn for a while now, and her food creations are just food for my soul. I could stare at her food installations for hours, and she gives me major inspo for the upcoming festive season!
THE GOOD PODCAST
A podcast that is always worth listening to, no matter what guest Sven Saro – host of the German podcast “Ohne den Hype” – has invited. In each episode, he interviews one creative from different fields (like photography, modern art, writing, graphic design, architecture...) about their backgrounds, their sources of inspiration, motivation, and challenges. I feel utterly inspired after listening, and there are so many cool people out there.
THANK YOU, Carola, for being part of THE GOOD MOOD BOARD! <3
