Hi, I'm Madeleine. I've recently made the move to Paris from Hamburg and Berlin. Over the past decade, I have navigated the ever-evolving and exciting landscape of fashion: Spanning from magazines and the world of digital startups (which is where I met Franzi) to working on the brand side for several years now. I am really thrilled to live and work in Paris. Every day brings an opportunity to connect with remarkable individuals from the creative and artistic world coming together in this French Ratatouille. A nice side effect of being based in Paris now is that I am improving my French cursing, and I now have the freedom to simply bring home all the beautiful discoveries I find throughout the city without struggling to fit everything into my suitcase.
Good music and movies accompany me every day at work, but above all in my private life, and are essential for my good mood. You can definitely find that and more here, et voilà:
THE GOOD WATCH
Le Cinéma Club, a delicately curated film platform by the wonderful Marie-Louise Khondji (check out her recent interview with Vogue Germany here) which she founded in 2015, is a fantastic free platform presenting a film every Friday, available for one week (find the latest movie here). In times of oversupply and stimulation, I appreciate this curated approach, showcasing short movies, feature films, documentaries, and many more.
THE GOOD MUSIC
Music is a constant inspiration, I can spend hours listening to it. Like those featured on NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts, live and acapella performances are my passion. Last year's gigs by Sampha, J Noa or Usher were one of my absolute favorites. At Colors Studio, I continually discover up-and-coming talents who create exceptional music worldwide.
THE GOOD EXHIBITION
Agnès Varda, an iconic French filmmaker, photographer, and artist, is considered a key figure in modern film and one of the leading female filmmakers (editor’s note: for those who are not familiar, watch “Varda by Agnès” via here). The Cinématèque Française has assembled an impressive retrospective of over 250 works, providing an immersive experience into her extraordinary life. The exhibition “Viva Viva” is on display until January 28th, the collection includes photographs, books, posters, and films. This exhibition was curated primarily by her daughter Rosalie Varda, who talks about her mother in the most wonderful way.

THE GOOD HAIR
A few times a year, I visit Adrien Coelho, in his Palais Royal salon (thanks to a recommendation of Anna Kuen). I love the intimate setting and his product line, with the "La Brume Mémoire" standing out as the best-smelling hair styling product I've ever tried. For someone like me, who never bothers to blow-dry my hair, this simple product with the perfect cut is a blessing.
THE GOOD TUNE
One of my favorite concerts in 2022 was Kendrick Lamar's in Paris. The music, performance, scenography, and energy were just on point. Luckily, it was captured on film, available on Amazon Prime, allowing me to enjoy it repeatedly. The film has rightly earned a Grammy nomination under the direction of Dave Free, Mike Carson and Mark A. Ritchie.
THE GOOD READ
While I'm not an avid reader, certain books do have a profound impact on me. This summer, “The Postcard” by French author Anne Berest left a lasting impression, offering a sensitive portrayal of her family history during WWII until today from a French perspective. I was deeply moved by her honest and refined, yet powerful writing style. It has truly enriched my world in a lasting way.
THE GOOD LAUGH
To wrap it up with some fun, The Inspired Unemployed from Australia is my go-to for a good laugh. Probably because they remind me of my own silly jokes with a few close friends (such as Louisa Kirk-Duncan).
